Old MacDonald had it right!
EIEIO. Remember that? Now in the song it was just a rhyming filler. But as a marketing tool, it looks like this:
(E) Entertain
(I) Inspire
(E) Educate
(I) Inform
(O) Outrage
I see so many people and companies speak or write without including any of these elements. They tell people their personal story or the features of their new product. All the while, their customers, coworkers and bosses are waiting for something that will Entertain, Inspire, Educate, Inform or Outrage them. If you’re marketing, speaking, or blogging – just follow Old MacDonald’s formula. You’ll be amazed at how it will make you stand out from the boring crowd.
This is very true, and a good reminder to writers!
Thank you for your comment Lorraine!
In the military we had dozens of acronyms, most of which were eminently forgettable. EIEIO stands out because it makes valuable information memorable.
I know exactly what you’re talking about Kevin. I have a family member that’s in the military and they only speak about the memorable acronyms. Thanks for sharing your experience and comment Kevin!
You just said in a nutshell what good marketing is all about. Great post!

Thank you so much for your feedback on this post Harvey!
Acronyms are such a simple way to remember things. This one helps marketers keep focus on what is important in their messages.
Thanks Tom for your feedback! Yes that’s the reason I love acronyms.
Great! Thanks for posting! Old MacDonald sure did have it right!
Yes he did. I use one of these in every thing I do. Why? Because everything I do that prospects and customers see and hear is marketing.
